7th grader sent home for wearing T-shirt that said 'there are only 2 genders'

Middleborough, Mass. (TND) — A 12-year-old middle school student is speaking up after he said he was sent home from school for refusing to remove a T-shirt that read: "There are only two genders." Liam Morrison, a 7th grader at John T. Nichols Jr. Middle School in Middleborough, Mass., told the Middleborough Public Schools board during an April 13 meeting that he was removed from his gym class a few weeks prior by school staff and told to take off his shirt because people were complaining that it was making them feel unsafe.

Altoona Amazon warehouse not a traffic concern

With the new Amazon warehouse in Altoona set to be making deliveries soon, people in the area are welcoming new jobs. “I think it's great that amazon is coming here. The more jobs the better and it's probably one of the better companies to work for. We need it here. We just hope it really takes off,” Blair County resident Dan Daniels said. “We've been watching its progress here. Somerset man grew marijuana in cornfield, distilled moonshine, police say

ROCKWOOD, Pa. — A Somerset County man is facing criminal charges after police say they searched his farm and found 55 marijuana plants tucked away in a cornfield along with two moonshine stills and 144 sealed mason jars of possible moonshine, according to a police affidavit. According to police, troopers received an anonymous tip that James Enos was growing a large amount of marijuana on Gebhart Rd. in Rockwood. State police flew an aviation unit over the farm on Aug.

Bishop McCort wrestler to represent Team USA in the World Championships

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Over the past week 6 News has been following along with the six Bishop McCort wrestlers who competed in the U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16-under National Championships. Three Crimson Crushers earned all-American status and Mason Gibson, won a national championship in Fargo, North Dakota. While those wrestlers competed across the country, their teammate was preparing to travel across the world to compete on the biggest mats of them all.

Former Clearfield Co. McDonald's employee accused of raping teen coworkers

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a former employee of a local McDonald's is facing several charges following an investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple teen coworkers. Police say last June, authorities received a report of an alleged rape involving a teenage worker and Taylor English, now age 29, of Curwensville. Authorities say the report also mentioned a possible second victim, who was reportedly 16 at the time.

Residents of Washington state island prepare as Ferrymageddon begins

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. (KOMO) — Bainbridge Island is working out contingencies as they prepare for "Ferrymageddon," a full week without ferry service for anything other than people walking on board a boat. "Ferrymageddon," the word now coined on Bainbridge Island, starts Thursday and will last through Sept. 13. Washington State Ferries (WSF) is using the entire week to work on construction of a new pedestrian walkway at the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal.

Somerset County family regains access to clean water thanks to nonprofit & local company

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A Somerset County family will soon have access to clean water, after going months without it, thanks to the help of some local companies and a nonprofit whose goal is to provide clean water access across the globe. Officials say in November, the Godin family's water well stopped producing enough water due to drought conditions last summer. The well was also caving in, forcing the Stoystown family of seven to drive about 20 minutes to get water for bathing their children and flushing their toilets.

Suspect in Clearfield County double homicide found dead

OSCEOLA MILLS -- Clearfield District Attorney Bill Shaw said the suspect in a double homicide in Clearfield County has been found dead. Shaw said the body of 26-year-old Cody Bush was found near Route 53 in Ashland. Shaw said it appeared he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Bill Shaw said state police were called to a home on Curtin Street in Osceola Mills Friday morning for a domestic incident involving gunshots.
