New monument for fallen PA WWII soldiers

BOALSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — A military monument was dedicated Sunday in Centre County. The monument at the Pennsylvania Military History Museum honors Pennsylvanians who died in the Battle of the Bulge, during World War II. From December 1944 to January 1945, Allied forces withstood and repelled what would become Adolf Hitler's last gamble on the Western Front, paving the way for the Allied invasion of Nazi Germany, and the ultimate end of the Third Reich.

Officer kills suspect after being stabbed during struggle

BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — State police say a Pennsylvania police officer is in critical condition after being stabbed during a struggle with a man he then shot and killed. Police say the officer in Butler responded early Tuesday to a report of a man "acting erratically and jumping in and out of oncoming traffic." State police say the officer struggled with the man, was stabbed and fired his gun. The 27-year-old officer has been reported in critical but stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
