STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday was National Record Store Day, with folks across the country flocking to their local record store to peruse and pick up some vinyl records. Vinyl records used to be the top-selling format for music. Throughout the 1980s, vinyl sales plummeted as other formats rose in popularity. But in the digital age, the century-old format's is making a comeback. In fact, data from the Recording Industry Association of America's 2022 revenue report shows the number of vinyls sold increasing for the past 16 years, especially spiking in 2021 after the pandemic.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) -- All state prisons remain on lockdown after nearly 60 prison staff members were exposed to substances since the end of May, causing them to feel ill and many to be taken to local hospitals. Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections have implemented an unprecedented statewide prison lockdown. Officials believe one substance that has sickened more than two dozen employees is a clear, odorless chemical known as synthetic marijuana.

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence Friday morning in connection to a crash that killed a woman in July. University Park, PA (WJAC) — Recognition of former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno has returned at Beaver Stadium. A Paterno plaque is now part of a display on the stadium's “Wall of Honor,” which highlights the history of the head football coaches for the Nittany Lions. In July of 2012, in the wake of the Sandusky scandal and Paterno being fired by Penn State, his statue, a popular fixture at the stadium, was taken down.

REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. - A new program for students interested in diesel engine mechanics started this year at the Jefferson County-Dubois Area Vocational-Technical School (Jeff Tech). The Diesel and Heavy Equipment class is an instructional program that prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills to the specialized maintenance and repair of trucks, buses, and other commercial and industrial vehicles.
