The former Penn State football defensive coordinator was convicted eight months later, in 2012, in Centre County court, on more than 40 counts of child sexual assault. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — On Friday, Gov. Tom Wolf signed a proclamation of disaster emergency and activated more than 1,000 Pennsylvania National Guard troops to Philadelphia. Philadelphia police and city officials are preparing from any unrest that might occur following the verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin, who is charged in the death of George Floyd. Closing arguments in Chauvin's trial are scheduled for Monday, and city officials say they have learned from their mistakes in responding to the protests against police brutality and racial injustice after Floyd's death in late May.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A Johnstown man convicted of shooting and killing a local high schooler over two years ago was sentenced to life in prison on Monday. In February, a jury found Qwante Rose guilty of first-degree murder in the slaying of 19-year-old Jaydin Sanderson on New Year's Day 2022. Police say Sanderson's body was found inside a vehicle along Wood Street in the Hornerstown section of the city.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County are investigating the deaths of two inmates who reportedly passed away earlier this week. According to officials, the first death occurred on Wednesday at the Centre County Correctional Facility after 46-year-old Larry David was found unresponsive in his cell. Investigators say life-saving measures were conducted but were unsuccessful. Officials say David has been incarcerated since April of 2021 and was awaiting trial on drug-related charges.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — On Monday, two YouTubers accused of child abuse will appear in court in St. George, Utah. It’s the latest step in the high-profile case involving Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt, who were arrested August 31 and charged with aggravated child abuse. The big question will be whether the women will be allowed out on bail, and one legal expert tells KUTV 2News that will determine in a big way how this case moves forward.

UPDATE | Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say Lexus Simms, the self-proclaimed "wife" of 41-year-old Marvin Price, who was gunned down in his vehicle last month in the Moxham-section of the city, has been caught. Officials say the 26-year-old failed to appear in court on Wednesday on charges related to Price's death after police say she allegedly stole the phone of the suspected shooter from the crime scene. Simms was initially taken into custody earlier this month in Washington D.

Brittney and Cherelle Griner revealed they are having a baby boy in a video shared exclusively with "CBS Mornings." The couple also revealed a name for their baby. In the video, the WNBA star and her pregnant wife are seen playing games such as a race to finish a baby bottle and dressing a baby doll while blindfolded. "CBS Mornings" co-host Gayle King revealed the baby boy will be named Bash.

UPDATE |PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A judge dismissed all charges, including a murder count, against a Philadelphia police officer who shot and killed a driver who had a knife, agreeing with defense lawyers who said the officer could have feared for his life. The municipal judge ruled after a courtroom packed with police and relatives of Eddie Irizarry watched about 20 minutes of harrowing video of the brief traffic stop that led to the death of 27-year-old.

2nd UPDATE |Karthaus Township, Pa. (WJAC) — State police in Clearfield County have released new details about the investigation into the inmate escape at Quehanna boot camp. According to the affidavit, 35-year-old Joshua Lackey reportedly fled from the facility, just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, by running out of the fire escape door. Police say Lackey allegedly admitted to making arrangements with his girlfriend, the night before, to pick him up.

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Robert Morris used a second half surge to defeat league-rival Saint Francis, 77-67, Tuesday night in the Northeast Conference tournament championship. With the victory, the Colonials have qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Dante Treacy, AJ Bramah, Josh Williams and Yannis Mendy all scored in double-figures as the top-seeded Colonials (20-14) extended a nine-point halftime lead to as much as 19 in the second half en route to a convincing win in front of an electric home crowd on Peoples Court at the UPMC Events Center.
